With these blogs, I'm not only working to entertain my own creative desires in the hours my child is peacefully sleeping and not hanging off of me, but my goal is for this to be a lifestyle reference guide for you guys. A truly curated collection of all the beautiful things that seek to define the Modhemian brand, that if your reading this, implies you already have a taste for. I've cut through all the internet fat to serve up a lean mean platter of all the things that I love, find inspiring, that get my blood pumping and my limbs tingly, with hopes you'll feel the same. That's a big reason why I like doing these round ups. Weeding through all the ugly to bring the pretty front and center, in a way that's practical and attainable for the every girl trying to bring a little modern bohemian style to their life.
With that lovely intro, I ask a question; Have you guys realized that some of your favorite clothing stores are also killing it in the home furnishings world? I've always felt strongly that fashion and interiors go hand in hand, so it makes sense that some of our favorite clothing brands are dipping into the housewares biz. You dress yourself to exercise your personality and creativity, help define who you are to the world and to feel good about yourself, as well as for the obvious, you can't go outside naked thing. In this same regard, you dress your home in a way that represents your style, a true reflection of yourself and your creativity and if you're anything like me, you like to envelope yourself with things that make you happy, calm and feel pretty, both in your wardrobe and in your home. When I meet potential clients for that first consultation, if they feel overwhelmed and are having a hard time articulating a focus or theme they want in their home, I tell them to look in their closet. What colors, patterns, textures are predominant and what is the overall message shining through? It's a pretty good indication of what they'll be drawn to and feel comfortable with for their interior decor and its a great place for me to get a hold of someones taste and personality on the very first meeting.
With that maybe obvious correlation addressed, let's take a look at what stores you should keep under the radar for all your everyday home good needs.....but mostly wants.
We all know and love H&M for their easy, cost conscious, trendy fashions, but did you know they have a killer home line? Bedding, pillows, storage and tchotchkes that are all in budget and offering a wide array of modern aesthetic options. A little masculine, a little femme, and a lot of Modhemian flavor.
