Get the Look: Jenni Kayne Home- Living and Bedroom
If you know me at all you’ll know that I’m obsessed with everything Jenni Kayne and of course that includes her home line. She’s expanding her brick and mortars ( Hooray! ) and her look is becoming more and more available to other parts of the country that haven’t yet been privy to the pacific natural way of life. It’s all about muted neutral palates, a respect of natural materials, simple patterns, if any at all, and lots and lots of organic luxurious textures. Although she is available to everyone via her website and storefronts the price tag isn’t always conceivable for everyone. That’s where I come in.
I’ve pulled together some Jenni Kayne inspired spaces that won’t blow your whole interiors budget on one sofa but also won’t leave you feeling like you skimped out anywhere and are living in a disposable home. Take a look and see where and on what pieces I’ve chosen to spend the money to get that easy, breezy, neutral California home that we have grown to covet and love.

Lets begin with the living room design! Always start with a neutral layer with great texture, the name of the game here. Ground and define the living space with a soft textural jute rug in a lighter blond and then top with a classic light linen sofa that is substantial but doesn’t have to break the budget. I like the look of a single seat cushion, sloped arms and of course that signature JK feminine drape. Dress the sofa with pillows, throws and maybe a sheepskin layer, all soft in texture and mellow in pattern.
For coffee, side and accent tables, focus on clean lines and natural materials, sometimes modern and sometimes a bit rustic but always thoughtfully collected. Accent lighting is also neutral and understated and framed art, something in nature that calms all your nerves. Bring in some more nature with a potted tree for some living, or faux, sculptural height and movement, and then sprinkle in some organic and handmade accessories. A stack of pretty neutral bound books, a vase of fresh or dried flowers, a candle of your liking and of course, some sort of pottery for interest.
Same idea continues into the bedroom portion of this board. Ground with a vintage hemp striped rug, and invest in another signature piece, the slipcovered linen bed in a light neutral. Dress that bed with a pair of pretty euros and yummy linen bed throw and then always pair with a handsome simple wood nightstand. Cover windows with billowy light filtering linen curtains, make a modern statement with porcelain sconces and don’t forget touches of ceramic, leather and woven accessories to finish it off.
