Boiler Suit Jumpsuit Trend: Closet Staple With a Playful Masculine Edge
For those of you that are a low maintenance dress wearin’ kinda girl like me, the main reason we opt for this fem piece is because it’s kinda thoughtless, beyond the purchase and try on of course. Slip over the head, no bra (most of the time), never fail to get a compliment, all in one look. One piece, one decision, out the door! That thought process in mind, my new favorite easy breezy throw on number in my closet that holds some serious street cred, is the modern women’s boiler suit. I’m talking, babe in the mechanic’s coverall, a little rough and cuffed but tailored….and with less grease stains. Total modern active Modhemian’s staple that holds a bit of masculinity but with that “damn she makes that mans onesie look good ” while running around town vibe.
The newer styles are straight fit, can be wider leg or tapered, but do have some semblance of a waist, whether to cinched or not is up to you. Pockets on the chest are a defining feature, definitely a trail of buttons or zipper up the front (how else are you gonna get this thing on) with deep flat side pockets and a collar to half pop or not, optional based on mood and hair. Dress it up with heels and bangles up your arms and a killer bag, or throw a pretty scarf or bandana around your neck with your favorite converse, sandals or booties, this piece is versatile, above all super comfortable and did I mention no fussing with coordinating colors, patterns or proportions to get the look right, it already is.
Here are a few babes rocking this look that displays how it works for every mild weathered California occasion from casual date night to carpool kid schlepping.
Loving the array of colors, cuts and fabrics, allowing you to pick the version that works best for your style and personality in every season. Check out Madewell, ASOS, TOPSHOP, Garmentory and Free People for affordable versions of this trend. J’adore!
